Dr Hammond offers a comprehensive Autism diagnostic assessment. This includes the following:
The Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS-2) is a standardised assessment of communication, social interaction and imaginative use of materials carried out with the person who is being assessed. The ADOS-2 consists of standard activities that allows the examiner to observe behaviours linked to a diagnosis of an Autism Spectrum Condition. The ADOS-2 is an internationally recognised measure that informs clinical assessment and contributes both observations and and a score that indicates whether a person is on the Autism Spectrum. It lasts about 1 hour.
The Autism Diagnostic Interview Revised (ADI-R) is a clinical diagnostic developmental interview that is carried out with parents or carer givers. The interview focuses on behaviour in three main areas: qualities of reciprocal social interaction; communication and language; and restricted and repetitive, stereotyped interests and behaviours from early childhood (4-5 years of age) and at the time of the assessment. It lasts 2-3 hours.
The clinical interview lasts approximately 90 and minutes includes a review of co-morbid difficulties and a psychological assessment. The interview focusses on detailed information about development and current difficulties. At the end of the interview an opinion on diagnosis will be shared.
A report will be written containing a diagnosis/non-diagnosis and clinical recommendations. The results of the tests will be included alongside a clear explanation of the diagnostic decision.
